Bank of Utah Championship Round 4 tee times: What to know
Sunday at Black Desert Resort could be a dream day for one of the PGA Tour’s journeymen grinders. The only question is: Which one?
Austin Smotherman will enter Sunday’s final round with a one-shot lead over Doug Ghim after shooting a third-round 65. This is Smotherman’s 100th career PGA Tour start. He has never won, and the only other time he held the 54-hole lead came at this year’s Cognizant Classic, where he finished T2.
“It would be just a lifelong dream come true,” Smotherman said Saturday about what a victory on Sunday would mean. “Just a lot of emotion, a lot of hard work, and reaping the fruits of our labor.”
A win would also bring a two-year PGA Tour exemption, a spot in the Championship Series in 2028 and vault him to No. 51 in the FedEx Cup Fall, which would put him in line for starts at Pebble Beach and Riviera next year.
But Smotherman isn’t the only long-time pro dream-chaser on Sunday in Utah.
This is Ghim’s 192nd PGA Tour start. His best finish came at the 2024 Shiners Children’s Open, where he finished runner-up to J.T. Poston.
“Obviously it’s what we come here to do,” Ghim said on Saturday. “One hundred and ninety-one times before I wanted to win, and I get another opportunity to do it tomorrow. It would be a dream come true.”
Smotherman and Ghim will go off last on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
