Marc Marquez capped off a dominant weekend by winning the Aragon Grand Prix in Spain to claim his fourth victory of the season.

The 32-year-old Ducati rider won the sprint race on Saturday and broke the lap record to qualify for Sunday’s race in pole position – the 99th pole of his career.

Marquez made a strong start to the race and paced himself well.

His brother Alex pressured him in the early laps but Marquez stretched the lead to 1.5 seconds by the midway point and Alex had no response.

It means the Spaniard extends his lead over his brother Alex, who finished second, at the top of the MotoGP standings to 32 points.

“It was an amazing weekend,” Marquez said. “As I expected, the others were getting closer and closer in every session but [I] was consistent.

“The celebrations together with my brother was amazing.”
