GOLF Staff
Bettinardi doesn’t just assemble putters in the U.S. — they make them here. In fact, their entire operation runs out of their facility in Tinley Park, Illinois, just outside Chicago. We’re talking raw blocks of high-grade metal going in one end, and Tour-level flatsticks rolling out the other.
Why does that matter?
For starters, quality control. When you’re making a precision instrument like a putter or wedge, microns matter. (Golf nerd flex) Bettinardi controls every step of the process, from milling to finishing, which means tighter tolerances, fewer errors, and fewer compromises. They don’t have to ship parts halfway across the world or rely on third-party factories juggling multiple brands. It’s all in-house, all the time.
It also allows for rapid innovation. Want to try a new face milling pattern? A fresh groove shape? A new wedge grind? Bettinardi can mock it up and test it in the same building — no months-long back-and-forth with overseas vendors. This speed and flexibility is huge in the modern golf world, especially when working with Tour players who know exactly what they want and needed it yesterday.
The family factor
Bettinardi is still family owned, and that’s not just a feel-good line on a brochure. Founder Bob Bettinardi made his name milling putters for the “big brands” in the ’90s before deciding to do it his way in 1998. Now, Bob runs the company with his son Sam Bettinardi, who’s brought new-school energy and marketing savvy, while staying true to the old-school precision and craftsmanship the brand was built on.
Staying family-owned means Bettinardi answers to customers, not shareholders. No pressure to cut corners, chase trends or ship production overseas to pad margins. Just a relentless focus on making some of the best golf equipment and accessories on the planet.
Bettinardi Golf unveils new HLX 6.0 forged wedges: 3 things to know

Wait, they make irons and wedges too?
Yep. Bettinardi might be famous for their putters, but they’re far from a one-trick pony. In recent years, they’ve brought their design expertise to irons and wedges, producing boutique-level gear that rivals anything from the “other guys”.
These aren’t mass-produced sticks with a Bettinardi badge slapped on. We’re talking about forged components with Tri-Material construction and stunning shapes, tight tolerances and handcrafted finishes. It’s the same attention to detail they put into putters, now applied to scoring clubs.
They also love to experiment. That in-house capability allows them to test different materials, designs, and finishes without the typical production bottlenecks. It’s R&D on their own terms, which leads to some very cool limited runs and player prototypes.
The Antidote: A tech-heavy twist on tradition
While Bettinardi is known for clean, classic shapes, they’re not afraid to push boundaries either. Case in point: the Antidote Zero Torque putter, which is a step into the world of counterbalanced tech and ultra-stability.

This thing is a different animal. With a unique shaft configuration and mass properties engineered to kill unwanted twisting, it’s a perfect example of how Bettinardi can go full mad scientist when the moment calls for it. Tour players are using it. Amateurs are loving it. And it’s built entirely in their Chicago facility. The Antidote has even made its way into my bag.
Enter The Hive: Where art meets metal
If you want to see Bettinardi’s wild side, take a trip into The Hive. This is where limited-edition putters, irons, wedges, headcovers, and accessories get the boutique treatment. Think flashy finishes, rare materials, hand-stamped artwork and collector-level detailing.
The Hive is how Bettinardi keeps things fun and fresh without compromising the core product line. And collectors eat it up. Headcovers from The Hive are like sneaker drops — gone in seconds. Some even end up on resale sites for more than the price of a brand-new set of custom irons.
Tour validation (with serious style)
Bettinardi may be boutique, but they’re not just for collectors and weekend warriors. Their putters have racked up over 100 professional wins worldwide, including on the PGA Tour, LPGA, European Tour and Korn Ferry.
Big names like Matt Kuchar, Jason Kokrak and Fred Couples have used Bettinardi gear in competition. Kuch even plays a custom armlock model designed just for him, which helped bring that style of putting into the mainstream.
And Bettinardi isn’t just a name on a hat. Their tour staff works closely with Bob, Sam and the in-house team to develop new models and tweak existing ones. Real-time feedback goes straight into the next iteration. That’s the power of owning your production from start to finish.
Don’t sleep on the accessories
Bettinardi’s not just about what goes in your bag. They’ve built a booming side business in premium accessories: headcovers, ball markers, divot tools, even leather goods and apparel. Most of it is made in the U.S., and all of it screams craftsmanship and cool factor.
These aren’t just throw-ins. The design team treats accessories with the same attention to detail as the clubs themselves. Limited runs, seasonal drops, creative collabs, it’s like streetwear for golfers, only made in a CNC machine instead of a sneaker factory.

More than a putter company
Bettinardi isn’t trying to be everything to everyone. But what they do, they do exceptionally well — and they do it right here in America, under one roof, with the Bettinardi family leading the way. They don’t need to be the biggest. They just want to be the best at what they do: precision-crafted tools for players who care about performance, feel and style.
From iconic putters to forged wedges, from The Hive to the Antidote, from Tour bags to leather headcovers — Bettinardi is proof that premium golf gear doesn’t need to come from a corporate empire. Sometimes, all it takes is a family, a vision and a few blocks of steel in Chicago.
