Another week, another win for Scottie Scheffler — and Ventus shafts.
If you’ve caught only snippets of PGA Tour coverage over the past few years, you’ve probably seen one shaft name come up again and again: Fujikura Ventus.
Ventus isn’t not just a popular shaft but it’s also the shaft of choice for many of the world’s best players. But why? What’s the secret sauce behind Ventus, and should you be thinking about one to your own bag?
Lock in gear heads; we’re diving in.
Why Fujikura Ventus shafts are a Tour darling
The numbers don’t lie: Ventus is an absolute beast on Tour. Week after week, it’s one of the most played wood shafts on the PGA Tour. And it’s not just there for show; guys are winning with it.
– Rory McIlroy plays a Ventus Black in his driver
– Scottie Scheffler plays Ventus Black in his driver and fairway woods
– Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, and Collin Morikawa all have had Ventus shafts in the bag
– 15 of the top-30 ranked players in the world play Ventus shafts
That says a lot. These guys test everything. That so many keep coming back to Ventus tells you all you need to know.

VeloCore: The tech that changed the shaft game
The backbone of Ventus is VeloCore technology, Fujikura’s secret sauce. It is applied to the full length of the shaft of the and is composed of a multi-material weave, which reduces twisting on off-center hits. The result? Way more control and stability through the swing, tighter dispersion and more consistent ball speed, even when you don’t catch the ball perfectly in the center of the face.
It’s like a stability system for your swing. You still have to swing it well, but VeloCore gives you that extra level of confidence that the ball will behave the way it’s supposed to.
Low launch, low spin: Built for control
The entire Ventus lineup has one core DNA: low spin, tight dispersion, Tour-level control. The OG Blue was already a spin killer. Then the Black took that to another level. And now with the Ventus TR and the Gen 3 VeloCore+ lineup, things have gotten even more dialed.
Which kind of players does this help?
If you swing it fast, have a quick transition and tend to over-spin the ball, Ventus can help you flight it down, hit fairways and stop your tee shot from climbing into orbit or get eaten alive by any breath of wind.

But — and this part’s important — Ventus is a “fit-first” shaft family. It’s not for everyone. If you have a slower swing speed, or you have a smooth tempo, you may be leaving distance on the table with such a stout profile.
Ventus Blue, Black, Red…and now White?
Ventus color-codes its models to make life a little easier:
– Ventus Blue – The “do-it-all” mid-launch, low-spin profile. Best balance of control and feel for most players. You’ll find this in the bags of Tour pros and weekend warriors alike.

Fujikura 2024 Ventus Blue Wood Shaft
Based on the game-changing VENTUS Blue profile originally launched on global tours in 2018, the all-new 2024 VENTUS captures the same incredible player-trusted feel as the original model, with improved material integrations and layouts. The first profile to incorporate Fujikura’s newest evolution of VeloCore Technology provides players even greater overall performance results.
The next generation of Fujikura’s ground-breaking proprietary key technology. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core construction technique that not only increases and enhances the original combination of Pitch 70 and 40 Ton materials, but incorporates an all-new third premium material to give players even tighter dispersion and increased ball speeds.
VeloCore+ takes all the benefits of the original VeloCore configuration and enhances performance even further by strengthening and tightening the overall structure.

Ventus hybrid (HB) shafts: Not just for drivers
Ventus isn’t just a driver shaft story. The Ventus HB shafts also have become a go-to for Tour players looking for the same consistency and stability in their long games.
Just like the driver shafts, the hybrid models come in Red, Blue and Black, offering similar launch/spin profiles. And, yes, they’ve got VeloCore+.
– Need more launch in your hybrid? Go Red.
– Want a neutral, all-around performer? Try Blue.
– Fighting spin or playing a hybrid like a driving iron? You’ll want Black.
Plenty of pros are gaming Ventus in their hybrids to tighten up long approaches and get that same “point-and-shoot” confidence they have off the tee.
Different Ventus generations
There have been three waves of Ventus so far, and here’s how they stack up:
- Original Ventus (Blue/Black/Red) – The foundation. These launched the Ventus revolution with a focus on low spin, high stability, and VeloCore in every shaft.
- Ventus TR (Blue/Red/Black) – This line includes an extra layer of spread tow carbon weave in the midsection for even more stability. Basically: same profiles, but tighter feel and better performance for harder load players.
- Ventus VeloCore+ – The latest addition. VeloCore+ builds on the original Ventus design with a re-engineered multi-material bias core, incorporating an upgraded premium material to deliver improved feel, tighter dispersion, and faster ball speeds.
It’s not just marketing hype. Each generation adds something new to the family of profiles. But they’re also built to stack, not replace. Plenty of players mix and match across generations and profiles to build the setup that fits them best.
Ventus is not just “popular” — it’s also dominant. That’s because the tech works. VeloCore gives players tighter dispersion, better energy transfer and confidence on every swing.
If you’re swinging it fast, fighting spin or just want Tour-level consistency, the Ventus family is 100% worth testing. Just remember, fitting matters. There’s a Ventus for nearly every kind of swing, but you won’t know which one is best for your game until you try it.
So, go test them. Bring your numbers. Compare TR vs. original. See what color fits your game. And if you end up walking away with a Ventus in the bag, well…you’ll be in good company.
