For most of my life, I eschewed sunglasses while playing, but as soon as I wore a pair during a round for the first time, I was hooked. Now, sunglasses are an essential piece of equipment for me, and I love finding new pairs that function well both on and off the course.
Sporty frames that tend to be popular for golfers aren’t particularly flattering on me — I prefer oversize, fashion-forward shapes. That’s all well and good off the course, but finding a pair that ticks that box and also functions well on the course can be difficult.
Former favorites of mine off the course have been heavy on the nose bridge, leaving a mark while I played, or required constant readjusting. And if I have a hat on, the temples can cause an ear ache if the fit isn’t right.
That’s why I was thrilled to find Maui Jim’s Anuenue. Not only did the glasses have a cool, cat-eye style frame, they were as light as air, with an adjustable rubber nose grip that helped the glasses stay put through 18 holes on a blustery day in Scottsdale. I barely noticed I was wearing them, and the lenses provided an ultra-clear view on what was an otherwise gray, cloudy day.
