Srinivas: “25 extras, that’s massive in a T20. Mark my words, this will be the key difference between the winner and loser of today’s game”
9:07pm A roaring finish for the Giants. 60 came off the last five, and that seems to have taken GG to what seems like a slightly above-par score, given the conditions and the circumstances. Mooney, as she so often is in clutch situations, was front and centre, batting through the innings, anchoring it and remaining unbeaten on 62. There were handy cameos from Wareham and Gautam too, with both of them enabling GG to have a dash at the end.
DC will feel they let the opposition get away at the end. Nandani was among the wickets, as was Henry, but both were a touch expensive. Mani was the pick of the bowlers and if there is not a lot of dew, DC’s play against spin could be a crucial deciding factor. They will still be confident of chasing this down but they, better than most, will know a lot can happen when chasing a score against GG. Join us in a bit for the second half!
Chinelle Henry: (On the total) Third game against GG, and this is the lowest total we have had chase against them. We know what we have to do. This is very chaseable. It was about assessing the wicket. Playing on it for the first time this season. There was a bit in it – swing and some bounce. Getting early wickets was key. We knew they were going to come at us at the back end. Just calm, cool heads and go out and win the game. (Message to batters) As the game went on, wicket got better for batting. If you spend time, there are runs out there. We have always talked about not losing early wickets in the powerplay. Tonight, there is nothing different. (On the best catch in the innings) At the end of the game, we will figure out (laughs). Those two catches brought us back into the game. We knew how important it was going to be as a fielding unit. Walking off the field, we are thinking this is the lowest we have had them. We have had some thrilling chases and tonight is just about taking it one step closer to the line.
Sharma to Mooney, FOUR, Mooney finishes the innings in style, and the Giants end up with 168! Slower ball that sits up on off stump. Mooney opens up her front hip and mooses it between long on and deep mid wicket. A solid, solid knock by the experienced head, and this will please the Giants!
