If you’re looking for the perfect summer cocktail and snack combo, try a deliciously innovative fusion of two traditional libations: Take an Old Fashioned — generally made with whiskey, simple syrup and bitters — and a Paloma, a mixed drink traditionally served with a tequila base, grapefruit soda and lime juice, and put them together using Blade and Bow’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey as the base spirit. The result? An awesomely refreshing cocktail that’s ideal for summer relaxation.

The Blade and Bow Old-Fashioned Paloma is destined to become your new favorite cocktail — and whipping up a batch while you’re entertaining is a surefire way to impress your guests. The best part? The recipe is delightfully simple.

Blade and Bow Old-Fashioned Paloma

-1.5 oz Blade and Bow
-2 dashes aromatic bitters
-3 oz grapefruit soda
-0.25 oz lime juice

Garnish with a wedge of lime.

Tiered fractional blending allows for a vast range of ages to come together, creating a complex yet approachable liquid.

And because every great cocktail deserves a complementary snack, we recommend pairing your Blade and Bow Old-Fashioned Paloma with freshly-made guacamole. What’s the best method to make that savory mixture? Social-media star Chance Cozby, also known by his social media handle @3piecesofpecan, which boasts more than 1.6 million online followers across multiple platforms, teamed up with U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark to demonstrate just how easy it is to make this crowd-pleasing cocktail-and-guac combo.

After mixing the drinks, the duo set to work on the guacamole, and Clark mentioned that he’s a big avocado fan.

“I actually eat an avocado every morning,” he said. “You do half avocado with one or two eggs, very simple, but I get my fats and I get my protein.”

“Well, that’s why we look different,” Cozby quipped. “Because I eat eggs with cheese and maybe a little bit of heavy cream with a lot of butter.”

After sharing a laugh, the two agreed that they like their guac spicy, so Cozby added a generous serving of serrano peppers.

“Both my parents are from New Mexico, so we were always used to green chili and spicy foods,” Clark said. “My mom was a great cook and she always actually put a little bit of salsa in her guac at the end.”

Cozby liked that call, and added a spoonful of salsa.

“It doesn’t change it too much,” Clark said. “But it just adds a little bit of extra flavor.”

The result? You guessed it. As usual with Cozby, it’s damn good. Check out the guacamole ingredient list below. To view the full video featuring Cozby and Clark making the Blade and Bow Old-Fashioned Paloma and the guacamole, you can watch the featured video above.
